49TH FOUNDERS’ DAY CELEBRATIONS

Guru Nanak Fifth Centenary School ushered in the 49th Founder’s Day celebrations at the school premises with fervor and gaiety. On this day, the Centonians cherish the memory of their founder members and visionaries Sardar Mehtab Singh ji, Sardarni Jasbeer Kaur ji and Sardar Jaspal Singh ji with great reverence.

The occasion was graced by the Chairperson GNFCS, Sardarni Jasleen Kaur, Vice Chairperson Sardarni Amrit Kaur Sabharwal, Secretary GNFCS Society. Sardar M.P. Singh , members of the managing committee and other distinguished guests.

Our respected Dean Mrs N.D. Sawhney, the Principal Mr. Anil Tewari and the Administrative Officer Mr. Sunil Bakshi welcomed the Chief guest on behalf of the staff and students of the school.

The Chief guest on the occasion was Dr. Harbhajan Singh, Ex Project Director and Head, Punjabi University Dr. Balbir Singh Sahityakendra.

The programme on 7th October 2018 was held at Shangri-la campus. The chief guest Dr. Harbhajan Singh was presented the Guard of Honour by the NCC cadets. Thereafter, the students enthralled the audience with the cultural programme.

The programme began by seeking the blessings of the Almighty. The programme commenced with a jugalbandi, presented by the school choir of girls and boys who sang the shabad “Om Namoh Bhagwant Gusain”.

The annual report was presented by the esteemed Principal Mr. Anil Tewari in which he spoke how the visionaries have been successful in developing GNFCS into a millennial school and how GNFCS has emerged among the top ten schools in the survey conducted by Education Word. A valuable message was then conveyed by our worthy Dean, Ma’am N.D. Sawhney where she strongly emphasized on the virtues of positive thinking and the ability to forgive. She laid emphasis on the importance of discipline in student life and the inculcation of prosper moral values as it would help us to develop into better human beings

The programme continued with the welcome dance which was a rhythmic choreography based on “Hanuman Chalisa Chaupai.”

The welcome dance and the fusion dance [an amalgamation of Kathak, Contemporary and Bharat Natyam] choreographed by Mrs. Radhika Shah , daughter of Padma Bhushan Uma Sharma, added a special flavor to the occasion. Then there was a play regarding issues our sisters and daughters face and how we deal with it. By our efforts to face them, we can eradicate social evils like eve teasing before it manifests into something bigger and evil.

This was followed by a play by the tiny tots of Shangri-la – Cinderella’s birthday party. The play depicts a party scene whereby many well known animated characters come to wish her on her birthday.

In the talent display by the Centonians, folk dances Lavni and Bhangra and a Hindi Play “ change within” directed by Mr. Jaideep Singh, Director Shady Nook Grooming School, Kolkata were staged and highly appreciated. Lavni, the folk dance of Maharashtra left the audiences mesmerized.

The students of Bal Vidya Mandir gave a spectacular dance performance on “Satya Mev Jayate.”

The boys and girls of GNFCS presented a hilarious English play ‘The man who married a Dumb wife’ and left the audiences rolling with laughter.

This was followed by the much awaited prize distribution ceremony.

The prestigious cock house trophy for being the champion house this year was bagged by Ranjit house in Shangri-la and Attari House house in Vincent Hill.

This was preceded by highly inspirational speeches by our chief guest Dr. Harbhajan Singh. He paid tributes to our founders members S./ Mehtab Singh, Sardarni Jasbeer Kaur ji and S. Jaspal Singh. The entire management has got together to uphold the high ideas of Guru Nanak Dev ji. He said that a human being should always follow the path of righteousness. One should follow the right path of “Dharm” to obtain enlightenment.

Education is just an amalgamation of different thought processes and opinions. He stressed on the fact that GNFCS was established with a prime focus on holistic learning. The main motive is to become a true person without any vice and corruption, which can be provided through good environment and education.

Followed by an address by Sardar M.P. Singh, secretary GNFC School Society.He paid tribute to all the founder members. He said that GNFCS is not only to provide us with an infrastructure but with values and culture that drives us to be a better human being. GNFCS is established to provide quality education to all the students. GNFCS is the 1st school to start e-learning in Northern Sector. He said that Jagriti will be continues with a view to do our bit for underprivileged. By Guru Nanak Bal Vidya proves to be a full fledged school with classes up to class XII. ERP has been launched to provide parents a day to day reporting on their phones. He spoke about the girls and boys school securing position amongst being one of the premier institute. He spoke about making the 50th Founder Year celebration an event to reckon by. The members of the management committee also launched the logo on the eve of upcoming Golden Jubilee year amidst a lot of cheering and applause.

The chief guest Dr. Harbhajan Singh was given a momento by Sardarni Amrit Kaur Sabharwal, other distinguished guests also received the mementos from Sardarni Amrit Kaur Sabharwal, Sardarni Jaswinder Kaur, Sardar TPS Mehta, Sardarni Jashveen Kaur.

Members of the press received their momentos from our worthy Dean Mrs. N.D. Sawhney and Principal Mr. Anil Tewari and our Administrative Officer Mr. Sunil Bakshi.

Then a message given by Sardarni Jasleen Kaur, chairperson GNFC School Society. She proposed a vote of thanks to everyone present. She said that GNFCS not only provides quality education to all students but strives to make them better human beings. She emphasized that one should always believe in doing goal for others without expecting any thing in return.

Sardar M.P. Singh asked the parents to take a guided tour of the newly renovated dormitories.

The Chief guest and other distinguished guests highly appreciated the art work and other exhibits of various hobbies made by the students.

The 49th Founders’ Day celebration was a grand success owing to the blessings of Waheguru ji.
