Baisakhi Celebrations In School

Baisakhi is a historic and religious festival of Sikhs. It commemorates the formation of the Khalsa Panth. On this day the tenth Guru Sri Guru Gobind Singhji laid the foundation of Khalsa Panth at Anandpur Sahib. On this day the farmers are jubilant as for them Baisakhi marks the time for harvest of rabi crops. In our school Baisakhi is celebrated with great fervour and feasting. This year we were honoured to have amongst us Mr M.P.Singh Ji, Secretary GNFC School Society.

The programme commenced with the Japji Sahib Path which was recited with great devotion by the staff & students. It was followed by shabad kirtan by the school choir girls and boys. The school choir presented the following shabads:

Sacha Amar Gobind Ka Sunn Guru Pyaare, Peevo Pahul Khande Dhaar Hoye Janam Suhela, Nanak Vaisakhi Prabh Pave Surat Shabad Maan Maana, Khalsa Akal Purakh Ki Fauj and many more.

Speeches on the history of Baisakhi and its significance were given by Manan Inder Singh and Kritika in English and by Danish Paul in Punjabi. Punjabi poems were recited by Yuvraj Singh and Swarleen Kaur. Speech in hindi was given by Master Shashank Vishwakarma. After the Path of Anand Sahib the Ardas was made and the Hukumnama was read . Thereafter Karah Prasad was distributed to the entire congregation.

The Dean Mrs N.D.Sawhney enlightened the students about the rich Sikh heritage and blessed the students.
